General Uses:
Venetian Crete is a cementitious system that can be used
to combine decorative concrete resurfacing in a ultra thin topping
that can be used in interior/exterior, on floors and can be acid or
dye stained to create unlimited floor texture and designs.
Venetian Crete is an excellent option after carpet or tile removal.
Sand or grind mastic and apply directly to the floor.
Apply 1 finish coat Venetian Crete-(25lbs powder with
fine sand. Add 1 gallon water to powder.)
Surface Preparations:
All concrete surfaces shoould be free of dirt, paint,
loose concrete, sealers, adhesives, oil and any foreign material
that will inhibit Venetian Crete Resurfaces from coming in direct
contact with the substrate. The systems integrity is based on
the bond to the substrate. Remove foreign material by power
washing, degreasings, and sanding and even acid etching to create an
open surface for the resurfacer to adhere.
Mixing Instructions:
(Venetian Crete Resurfacer- application) For best results
use a mechanical mixer with a jiffy type mixer or drywall mud
mixer. Do
not mix by hand. Mixing is best achieved using 5-gallon
bucket, add 1 gallon of water and slowly add 25lbs of
resurfacer(add 1/2 of the powder , mix, then slowly add the
rest). Work time at 70 degrees is approximately 2 hours. Mix
mateterial in a cool place and keep unused material cool and
covered. Do not let sit in direct sunlight. Stir until thoroughly
mixed usually 2-3 minutes until lump free. If material starts to
thicken remix to original consistency. Apply as soon as mixed and
only mix what can be used in an immediate area. Usually with 20
minutes.
When applying over large surfaces squeegees can be
used. When using over small areas trowels and taping knives can be
used. Spread thin even coats over the entire surface to be
topped. Once each base coathas dried enough to be
walked on without marring the surface, remove high spots,
ridges and other irregularities by sanders or drywall knives. If
left to dry overnight sanders and grinders may be necessary to
smooth the surface. Venetian Crete Resurfacer can also be used as a
stand-alone product when an anti-slip system is required. It can be
broom finished on driveways.
When applying always maintain a wt edge. One or more
coats can be applied. After the finish coat has dried usually less
than a hour you can lightly sand or scrape the ridges and high
spots out. For a very smooth surface sand with 150 grit sanding
screens on a floor buffer. Let product dry overnight before
applying additional coatings or stains. When applying an acid stain
always let product cure 2 days.
Curing and Limitations:
Apply in temperatures between 40 degree F and 100 degree
F. Do not allow placed material to freeze for 48 hours. Do
not exceed 1 gallon of water to 25 lbs of material, as this will
weaken the product substantially. Allow 24 hours for foot traffic,
4-7 days for vehicular traffic. Venetian Crete
Resurfacer must be sealed.
