Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior is designed as a high-performance coating that combines advanced resin technology with exceptional durability.

Key Performance Highlights

  • Color Lock® Technology: This proprietary technology provides unparalleled color depth and prevents fading, ensuring the finish stays vibrant over time.

  • Superior Durability: The paint features a lab-perfected resin that offers excellent fade resistance and gloss retention while reducing chalking.

  • Efficiency: It offers substantial film formation starting with the first coat, allowing you to finish jobs faster using less paint.

  • Breathable Coating: This permeable finish is less prone to blistering, providing long-term protection against the elements.

  • Improved Resistance: The formula provides improved block resistance and reduced tack, which minimizes disruption at the job site.

  • Gennex® Color Technology: This ensures superior hide and color retention across the entire Benjamin Moore color palette.

Benjamin Moore Aura Exterior Sheen Comparison

Sheen Reflectance Level Best Use Cases Key Characteristics
Flat (N629) Lowest (0–3%) Siding and shingles with many imperfections. Excellent at hiding surface flaws like cracks or patches; provides deep, non-reflective color.
Low Lustre (N634) Low (9–15%) The most popular choice for the main body of the house (siding, shingles). Offers a soft, velvety glow similar to interior eggshell; balances durability with a gentle aesthetic.
Satin (N631) Moderate (20–30%) Trim, doors, windows, and shutters. Provides a noticeable glow that highlights architectural details; highly durable and easier to clean than lower sheens.
Soft Gloss (N632) High Doors, shutters, railings, and decorative trim. The most reflective and easiest to clean; extremely moisture-resistant but will highlight any surface defects.

The main difference between the sheens for Aura Exterior paint is the level of light reflectance, which impacts both the appearance of the color and how well the paint hides surface imperfections or resists wear.

Choosing the Right Sheen

  • For the Body of the House: Most homeowners choose Flat or Low Lustre. Flat is ideal if your siding has many imperfections you want to hide, while Low Lustre offers a slight glow and is easier to maintain over time.

  • For Trim and Accents: Satin and Soft Gloss are the standard choices for "high-touch" areas like doors and window frames. Their smoother finish makes them more resistant to the elements and easier to wipe down.

  • For High-Traffic Areas: Higher sheens like Satin and Soft Gloss are inherently more durable and better at repelling dirt and water.

Regardless of the sheen you choose, all Aura Exterior products feature Color Lock technology to prevent fading and a mildew-resistant coating for long-term protection.
